On November 30, 2022, the Minister of Construction of Vietnam promulgated Circular No. 06/2022/TT-BXD on the National Technical Regulation QCVN 06:2022/BXD on Fire safety of Buildings and Constructions.

According to the Circular, the arrangement of emergency exits for karaoke venues and discotheques shall satisfy the following requirements:

- Floors of karaoke venues and discotheques shall have no less than two emergency exits.

- Each floor may have one emergency exit when the following conditions are met:

+ Regarding buildings with a height for fire prevention and control of 15 m or lower, the area of each floor shall not be larger than 300 m2. Regarding buildings with a height for fire prevention control from 15 m to 21 m, the area of each floor shall not be larger than 200 m2.

+ The whole building is protected by an automatic fire suppression system.

+ The maximum number of people on each floor shall not exceed 20 people.

+ There must be at least one additional emergency exit from the floors leading to an open balcony or an open safe area on the rooftop, or stairs type 3

Note: An open area or open rooftop means it is exposed, and the covering part (if any) must ensure easy escape and rescue when the firefighting force approaches.

Circular No. 06/2022/TT-BXD comes into force as of January 16, 2023 and replaces Circular No. 02/2021/TT-BXD dated May 15, 2021.
